LibGig, a division of LAC Group, is searching for a Youth Services Librarian for a public library in the Los Angeles-South Bay area. The Youth Services Librarian will be responsible for the youth department (including weekly story time, youth programs, youth reference and readers advisory) and basic desk duties (checkout, library cards, etc.). This position will be approximately 32 hours per week with a Monday-Thursday schedule of 2 PM – 8 PM and Saturday from 8:30 AM – 5 PM.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, programs, procedures and work standards for the division.
• Select library materials and resources for Youth Services area.
• Act as liaison between library and the community.
• Provide specialized programs and services to customers such as advisory/reference services and topical programs.
• Perform outreach and promotional efforts for Youth Services area.
• Perform vacation and temporary relief as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         A Master’s degree or post-graduate qualification in Information and Library Management, Information Science is required.

·         At least 2 years of previous experience, preferably in a Youth Services division in a public or education library.

·         Knowledge of automated library information systems, software and equipment and principles and practices of cataloging and classification procedures for a variety of materials and formats.
