Penn State University Libraries seeks an enthusiastic, curious and productive candidate for the digital production supervisor in the Preservation, Conservation, & Digitization (PCD) department. In this highly collaborative role, the digital production supervisor communicates with stakeholders and participates in discussions to set digital production priorities with a team across the University Libraries including: Cataloging and Metadata Services, PCD, I-Tech, Digital Scholarship and Repository Development, copyright experts, and collection stakeholders. The digital production supervisor also works closely with PCD members for repair and stabilization treatments of materials before and after digitization and digital preservation requirements, including metadata. This role serves as the contact to resolve imaging production and technical project-related problems, manages equipment, and oversees project tracking and assessment activities.  This position is responsible for designing workflows, producing digital and analog surrogates in accordance with archival standards, performing quality control in support of sustainable digital collections, and in directing digitization for research and instruction requests for library exhibits and promotion and marketing initiatives.  The digital production supervisor prioritizes, assigns, and supervises one full-time and five part-time staff employees. The digital production supervisor establishes, maintains, and assesses overall production workflow for multiple concurrent digitization streams and is responsible for documentation and training.   Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience with analog and digital imaging equipment (e.g. flat-bed scanners and high resolution analog and digital cameras; and high-speed sheet fed scanners, slide scanners, 3D scanning, photogrammetry, etc.); extensive experience related to reformatting imaging, graphics, audiovisual formats; knowledge of national best practices for digital conversion; demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and excellent attention to detail are preferred.  A strong commitment to diversity, equity, respect and inclusion, as well as the ability to work well in a collegial team environment is required.  The University Libraries values diversity of thought, perspective, experience and people, and is actively committed to a culture of inclusion and respect.  We encourage candidates to apply who thrive in a welcoming multicultural environment.
