This week, we all have an opportunity to share in a rare event that will become part of UT's history—Chancellor Davenport's investiture.
A revered tradition, the investiture is a formal academic ceremony to introduce a new campus leader and allow the new chancellor an opportunity to publicly share his or her vision.
The celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, with a tree planting ceremony in Circle Park.
The investiture ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 13, in Cox Auditorium, Alumni Memorial Building, with a reception following.
The campus community is invited to attend both ceremonies.
There is a lot of information on the
investiture webpages of the chancellor's site.
We invite you to
leave a message for Chancellor Davenport,
learn more about the ceremony and why you should attend, the
history of the ceremony at UT, and the
symbols and traditions associated with investiture.
Please share these resources with your departments and units, and we hope to see you at the events. Thanks!
