Role Title: Computer Operations Technician I

Position Summary: Provide effective maintenance and support for end-user technology such
as desktops, laptops, and technology dispersed throughout the library.
Perform work of moderate difficulty, troubleshooting, running
diagnostics, repairing computers and peripheral equipment, and resolving
technical issues. Shares on-call support duties with other staff during
scheduled work hours by receiving and resolving requests for help.
Perform routine maintenance on installed computer equipment following
establish procedures and policies, ensuring that computers remain in
optimal working condition.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and effective oral and written communication abilities.
- Experience in Windows-based and macOS laptop/desktop computer imaging,
setup, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
- Experience in interpreting and explaining policies and procedures to customers
- Experience in a work setting to prioritize and organize work tasks, with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of data communications gained through
formal education or by applicable experience with various operating
systems.
- Knowledge and experience with computer applications in a library.
- Experience with VT and
VPN network applications, word-processing and other office related products, and virus protection software, such as
ESET and Malwarebytes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of software/hardware assets inventory and management, using TeamDynamix and/or ServiceNow.
- Specific knowledge and experience with imaging using
FOG, setup, installation and maintenance of PC and Macintosh software and hardware.
- Training and/or experience in computer operations, software/hardware
installation, diagnostics and repair in an instructional lab setting and
with library service operation computers.
- Experience installing computer peripherals, such as printers, plotters, flatbed and handheld scanners.
- Experience with Library applications, such as Sierra, Illiad, TeamDynamix,
FOG, Adobe products,
ESET, Logmein,
IBM BigFix and SMARTboard technology.
-Experience with digital signage technology.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience related to Desktop Computer Operations and Administration.
Employment Conditions: average of 30 hrs/week between Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (These hours include school breaks
and summers)
