Information Services Librarian

The Information Services Division - Barret Library is looking for a forward thinking, service oriented and motivated individual to work in a collaborative team.  Rhodes College is especially interested in attracting candidates from historically underrepresented populations and/or those with demonstrated commitment to working with diverse and historically underrepresented populations.  The successful candidate will provide assistance in the areas of information technology support, networking, and traditional reference and media services. Provide reference and helpdesk support/first-tier technology support to students, faculty and staff.  Participate in library and technology instruction while actively leading and guiding the efficiency and user-oriented attitude of the Information Desk.  Serve as Barret liaison to academic departments in partnership with the faculty, which includes active participation in collection management.  Resolve basic questions from users with software products (Microsoft Office, etc), projects and the campus network. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Maintain online documentation, the Information Services Website, Worldshare (WMS) management, and the ticket management knowledgebase and reports.



Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years professional library experience or related experience are the minimum requirement. Relevant Master's degree strongly preferred (American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master of Library Science (MLS), Master of Arts, Master of Librarianship, Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS), and Master of Science) and a  minimum of three (3) years professional library experience, preferably in an academic setting. Experience with first-tier information technology support required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and analytic skills.  Ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively both as a team member and independently. Skill in the use of library components (including instruction), technology and web applications.  Must have experience with integrating new technologies into the delivery of information systems and with technology support.  Facility with integrated library systems, learning management systems, and/or web content management systems preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills as well as demonstrated ability to relate to students, faculty and staff required.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Must be able to work evening and weekend hours as necessary.
