Job Title: Reference and Information
Literacy Librarian
Department: Library
Reports to: Dean of Library
FLSA: Exempt
Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (extended hours when requested)
Location: Orange Beach, AL
Job Summary:
Plans and administers library services under the direction of the Dean of Library by performing the following duties personally
or in conjunction with other librarians.

Deliver a dynamic reference experience which promotes inquiry and critical thinking, and strives to produce information literate and technically proficient
self-directed learners
·
Develop web-based research guides and instructional materials help users.
·
Experience collaborating with teaching faculty to create and advance professional relationships that align library teaching objectives with course
outcomes.
·
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design principles, information literacy concepts, and their connection with teaching and learning issues in
higher education.
·
Coursework or professional experience with Adobe, Camtasia and other software for creating library tutorials and interactive modules.
·
Develop, implement, advocate, promote, analyze and assess information literacy program.
·
Familiarity with web accessibility standards for persons with disabilities.

Knowledge

Significant knowledge of library, learning resources, and distance education and operations.
·
Must be an effective communicator for Columbia Southern University Library not only on the campus but externally to the wider profession.
·
Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, and their application to academic library instruction.
·
Knowledge of copyright principles as they relate to online instructional design.

Strong communication, analytical, interpersonal, and motivational skills

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with faculty and staff, students, and community members.

Education & Experience
Masters of Library Science or Library and Information Science required.
Experience with learning management systems used in higher education.
Experience collaborating with teaching faculty to create and advance professional relationships that align library teaching objectives
with course outcomes.
Equipment Used

Office equipment including computers, telephones, printers, faxes, and copiers.
·
Software use include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database software.
·
Software use include Camtasia, LibGuides and LibraryH3lp platform.
Work Environment
Works primarily within a climate controlled environment within an office setting mostly sedentary with frequent sitting, occasional
walking and lifting, and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Noise level is generally moderate.
