It was truly “a dream come true” when he found the most beautiful site in the nation to construct the garden. The property is 292 acres and the house and gardens include 220 acres, making it one of the nation’s largest residential estate gardens. UT Gardens, Crossville has recently joined her sister gardens, UT Gardens, Knoxville and UT Gardens, Jackson as a Conifer Reference Garden. To receive a Reference Garden designation, a garden must meet several criteria, including the number of conifers in their collection, accurate labeling of the conifers and appropriate maintenance of the conifer collection. Visitors to the Crossville site will find many varieties in the conifer designated beds. However, a complete location listing is available in the information box at our newly planted entrance.

Aquaponics System Installed in Crossville

[https://UtGardens.wildapricot.org/resources/Pictures/EEF0950.jpg]What is aquaponics and how does it work? Each year, Crossville's summer intern selects an independent study project to complete during their 10-week study. With the help from UT Plateau Research and Education Center staff, Cumberland County Master Gardener members, and individualized field trips, Hannah designed and constructed a solar powered display utilizing three growing systems: flood and drain (Ebb and Flow), floating raft (Deep Water Culture), and thin film (Nutrient Film Technique).
