Subject: University of Minnesota Job Opening - Spatial Technology Specialist

U-Spatial is Hiring

U-Spatial is seeking an experienced GIS trainer to join our staff. The spatial technology specialist is a GIS expert and consultant who collaborates with researchers and faculty to identify, develop, and deliver appropriate technology solutions for spatial research at the University.

The primary focus of the spatial technology specialist will be to design and facilitate training activities. These activities include non-credit workshops, trainings, and outreach events for students, faculty, staff, and affiliated researchers. The spatial technology specialist will consult with colleagues throughout the University needing assistance with GIS, remote sensing, and spatial computing. In addition, the spatial technology specialist will help manage the U-Spatial data infrastructure. This can include specialized data resources (i.e. DigitalGlobe Basemap), ArcGIS Online, and Esri ArcGIS Server infrastructure.

U-Spatial, a unit within Research Computing, provides support for spatial research, helps eliminate duplication and fragmentation of scientific resources, and provides a framework of data, equipment, expertise, and resources that benefits all researchers. This position is key in our effort to build and foster communities of practice using spatial technologies to enhance research, teaching, and outreach.
