Geographers,
Please let me know if any of you are interested in this position. Dave’s team in Albuquerque does a lot of natural hazard mitigation work and infrastructure work in the Southwest, especially on projects working for the Navajo Nation. (Dave and his team shared the stage with Jack Dangermond and their partners with the Navajo Housing Authority when they earned the ESRI Special Achievements award in 2015<http://blogs.aecom.com/technology-and-tradition-sustainable-housing-for-the-navajo-nation/>.) Here are links to two different presentations that the NHA and AECOM gave at the ESRI UC that year as well.

Speaking from personal experience, Albuquerque is a great place to kick start your career. The low population makes it easier for a single person or small team to make an outsize impact on the community. And the GIS community<http://nmgic.com/> is active and very welcoming. Combine that with approximately 300 days of sunshine a year, all the mountain biking, road biking, backpacking, climbing you can image, and excellent food and you’ll likely have a great time.
