Indiana University Bloomington Libraries seeks a Cartographic Resources Cataloger.
Title: Cartographic Resources Cataloger

Summary: Creates original bibliographic and authority metadata records with expertise in cartographic materials including sheet maps, atlases, gazetteers, globes, and GIS datasets. Reviews and proposes local cataloging policies and workflows relevant to cartographic materials and advise management in metadata activities related to cartographic materials.
Required: Bachelor's degree in library science, information science, social sciences, or related field and two years of metadata creation experience in an academic environment. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of geographical and mathematical components of cartographic resources; working knowledge of at least one metadata structure standard or schema (e.g., Dublin Core, MODS, MARC, EAD, TEI, etc.); and demonstrated ability to work with OCLC database and an integrated library system. Demonstrated working knowledge of international and national metadata content standards and tools such as Resource Description and Access (RDA), Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd ed., revised (AACR2), Library of Congress classification and subject headings (or other controlled vocabularies), and Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR). Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, peers, and trainees and work cooperatively in a team environment. Strong organizational and time management skills including ability to work collaboratively in an environment of continuous change, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy.
Preferred: Master's degree and experience creating original MARC records.
