Two Positions:

 

Clinical Data Research Specialist 

The UVa School of Medicine is looking for a Clinical Data Research Specialist in the Health Sciences Library. The position will be a member of the Health Sciences Library's Research and Data Services team providing data management services to support UVa Health System faculty, staff, and student research endeavors. The Clinical Data Research Specialist will collaborate with Library colleagues to stay aware of current and anticipated research data needs and develop and provide services to support UVA Health System clinical and translational researchers. The Specialist will also partner with multiple stakeholders to coordinate the provision of data-related services via pan-university initiatives such as the Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia, the UVa BioConnector, and other efforts on Grounds.

This position will support faculty, students, and researchers engaged in clinical and translational research by providing technical data consultations. To identify useful local, statewide, national, and international biomedical data sources and consult on acquisition, transfer, and storage. To provide guidance on using software, web applications, and relational databases for health related research for collecting, cleaning, and interpreting data.

Research Data Specialist  

The UVa School of Medicine is looking for a Research Data Specialist in the Health Sciences Library. The position will be a member of the Health Sciences Library's Research and Data Services team providing data management services to support health related research for faculty, staff, and students. The Research Data Specialist will collaborate with Library colleagues to stay abreast of current and anticipated data needs and develop and provide support services throughout the research process. The Specialist will also partner with multiple stakeholders to coordinate the provision of data-related services via pan-university initiatives such as the UVA BioConnector, Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia (THRIV), and Computation and Data Resource Exchange (CADRE). 

This position will support researchers (faculty, staff, and students) engaged in biomedical research by providing computational research support. The data specialist will provide consultations on cleaning, manipulating, visualizing and analyzing data by writing and and/or optimizing programs and applications in R, Python, or other freely available products. The incumbent will also provide guidance on technical data management issues, including acquisition, transfer, and storage of data.
