Job ID: 8487 For more information about the Department of Game, Fish and Parks, please visit http://gfp.sd.gov/. This position coordinates and manages the statewide aquatic invasive species (AIS) program. This includes the implementation of monitoring and prevention programs at approximately 300 waters, the development and coordination of outreach and education efforts, serving as the state delegate to regional and national panels and committees, and coordinating the efforts of state and federal partners. The incumbent serves as the department's AIS subject matter expert and helps to develop policy, regulations and procedures to slow the spread of AIS in South Dakota; and will assist fisheries crews with fisheries management activities when necessary. A valid driver license is required and possess or be able to obtain a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA) certification. This position requires regular overnight and day trip travel across the state to coordinate with area fisheries staff and regional personnel. There are 2 - 3 out of state meetings and symposia regarding regional and national AIS issues yearly.
