Good afternoon,

I am pleased to share with you the latest product of the National Coalition on Truck Parking (“Coalition”).  The following link (.pdf attached) will direct you to a report documenting the efforts of the Coalition over the past year and a half and continuing efforts to identify and address truck parking problems across the Nation.  https://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/publications/fhwahop17026/index.htm

For additional information on truck parking, click here: https://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/freight/infrastructure/truck_parking/index.htm

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and stakeholder organizations which comprise the National Coalition on Truck Parking undertook a national dialogue on strategies to address truck parking needs.  In 2016, the Coalition convened four regional meetings across the country and a National meeting in Washington, D.C., at which key stakeholders provided input on innovative approaches to solve the nation’s truck parking problem. The resulting report contains many suggestions and some best practices for improving truck parking, including strategies for expanding parking capacity, using technology and data to maximize the efficient use of parking, options for funding and financing, and initiatives for state, regional, and local government coordination and planning.

Truck parking is a matter of national safety for truck drivers and the traveling public. This report will assist public and private sector stakeholders that seek to work together to address truck parking needs.  The USDOT and its partners are committed to continuing efforts to promote truck parking solutions and will continue working as a Coalition to explore the implementation of potential solutions through working groups and other future Coalition activities.

Thank your continued interest in and commitment to truck parking.
