Sessions include Wilson, Warren, Davidson and Williamson County Master Gardeners
Schedule (Central Time):
8:00 to 8:30 – Registration – Rutherford County Extension Community Center
8:30 to 9:00 – Bus loading (both buses will depart from community center)
9:00 to 12:15 – Tours to Wilson and Davidson County garden sites
12:30 to 1:15 - Lunch
1:15 to 2:15 Rutherford County demo garden tour
2:30 to 4:15 Interactive workshops
Wilson County-
Visit Fiddler’s Grove historical site nestled in the James Ward Ag Center where WCMGs manage the gardens and have established an arboretum. Then travel to the Cedars of Lebanon State Park
where a butterfly garden showcases plant/insect connections.
Davidson County-
Ellington Ag Center is the home of the ever-expanding MGDC demonstration garden that hosts visitors of all ages and interests. Additionally the Cultivate community garden is located in another area
of Ellington where you will see urban food production techniques in action.
Rutherford County-
Lane Agri-Park, home to the Rutherford County Extension office provides RCMGers with a great site for demonstration gardens. Their current demo garden illustrates food production, water
and soil conservation practices, pollinator attraction as well as permaculture techniques. Additionally, you can visit the two RCMG-constructed rain gardens on site.
