University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking applications and nominations for a Research & Learning Services Librarian.

Research & Learning Services Librarian, UT Health Sciences Library– Memphis, TN

The UTHSC Health Sciences Library is committed to providing outstanding service in the ever-changing environment of academic medicine, healthcare delivery, and biomedical research. As we move forward, the Health Sciences Library will evaluate our policies and services as we work to increase our contribution to the campus. We are currently seeking an energetic, service and team-oriented and collaborative professional to join our Research & Learning Services department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  *   Provides reference and research support and works collaboratively with faculty to plan and deliver course-integrated instruction.
  *   Serves as an embedded librarian to specific academic departments.
  *   Delivers instruction and research assistance.
  *   Identifies faculty and student needs, and solicits input on library resources in the specific departmental disciplines.
  *   Provides assistance with technology tools.
  *   Teaches information access and assessment.
  *   Collaborates with faculty to provide curriculum-integrated instructional support.
  *   Assists with scholarly research.
  *   Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of library services, policies, and procedures.
  *   Participates in professional activities and professional development.
  *   Manages or assists with special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements for Screening Purpose:

  *   Master's degree in library/information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or an equivalent graduate library science/information studies degree.
Minimum Requirements for Interview Purpose:

  *   Basic database searching and teaching skills.
  *   Demonstrated presentation skills.
  *   Knowledge of information literacy.
  *   Knowledge of technology tools, including mobile devices and web applications.
  *   Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  *   Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a strong service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Bachelor's degree in a science discipline.
  *   Preference will be given to candidates with a background in or an enthusiasm for the health or life sciences.
  *   Experience with health sciences database searching.
  *   Ability to search PubMed utilizing MeSH.
  *   Teaching experience.
  *   Experience with web authoring tools.
  *   Experience with course management systems.

BENEFITS
University faculty appointment: This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment. Faculty rank will be at the level of Assistant Professor.

Salary is commensurate with education/experience. $50,000 minimum for the candidate with the required education and experience.
