Maryville College is seeking applicants for the position of Electronic/Digital Resources Librarian. This is a full-time position.

Job Status: Exempt Professional, E-1

Job Summary: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  *   Provides leadership in the management and procurement of electronic resources
     *   Coordinates collection development of online library resources, including research databases, e-books, and electronic serials.
     *   Manages library online resources, including research databases, electronic books, and electronic serials.
     *   Maintains e-resource management records to track vendor contacts and licensing and subscription information.
     *   Maintains documentation of e-resources workflow, policies, and procedures.
  *   Collects and analyzes usage data to assist in selection decisions
     *   Compiles, analyzes, and reports e-resource usage statistics in support of collection development decision making and library assessment activities.
  *   Troubleshoots access problems
     *   Ensures accurate and reliable access to library online and digital resources using EBSCO Admin / Full Text Finder / EDS, proxy server authentication software, Innovative Interfaces Inc. Sierra integrated library system, ContentDM, and other systems.
     *   Provides technical support to troubleshoot and resolve access issues for the library’s e-resources.
     *   Communicates with vendors, college IT, and library staff regarding e-resource technical issues.
  *   Promotes public awareness and use of electronic resources.
     *   Works with Research and Instruction Librarian to ensure that online resources are accessible and seamlessly integrated into the library web site.
     *   May teach library instruction classes and workshops as other work and subject expertise permits.
  *   Coordinates Maryville College’s participation in the BCLA Shared Catalog with librarians at the Appalachian College Association.
  *   Researches, evaluates and recommends methodologies, standards, software for the creation and preservation of digital collections; serves as expert to other library and college staff regarding the digitization and preservation of resources and records.
     *   Organizes and preserves college historical materials, including leading digitization efforts.
     *   Uses ContentDM to catalog and provide access to college historical materials.
     *   Creates original digital content reflecting Maryville College history and current scholarship.
     *   Supports digital scholarship initiatives.
     *   Stays abreast of best practices and emerging developments in the management of e-resources, trends in scholarly communication, and licensing trends and shares knowledge with library staff.
  *   Participates in physical and digital collection development. Provides research assistance services as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to work well with others. Regular attendance is required.

Requirements: American Library Association accredited Masters degree in library and information studies required; previous experience managing online and digital resources preferred. Familiarity with and experience administering a wide variety of research databases, including EBSCO, EBSCO Discovery, Gale, and ProQuest systems. Familiarity with and experience administering library software systems, including SpringShare, Innovative Interfaces Sierra, and OCLC products. Familiarity with and experience administering open access, custom linking, and proxy access software and coding.
