Library Associate III
The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine's Health Information Center/Preston Medical Library located at The University of Tennessee Medical Center In Knoxville Tennessee has a full time opening for a Library Associate III.

The purpose of this position is to assist in providing reference services in a medical library, including providing patients, their families and community members with consumer-level health information and assisting with their use of computers and Internet. The hours of this position include evening and weekends. Duties include the following
*         Provide in-depth assistance in person, by telephone, email and chat to help users in locating cataloged materials and in specialized databases.
*         Perform reference interviews in order to successfully research and prepare responses to Consumer & Patient Health Information questions and to determine when patient care related literature search requests should be referred to full time librarians.
*         Utilize the integrated library system (ExLibris) to check books out to patrons and to assist in editing cataloging records of book locations and status.
*         Provide assistance and instruction on the use of library equipment both verbally and by creating written guidelines.
*         Provide technical assistance and reference consultation in use of electronic books, and electronic journals and other E-resources.

     *   Add and update records in databases and spreadsheets  including "Off-Campus Access Database "; Consumer & Patient Health Information and Literature search database, room use statistics
     *   Utilize multiple interfaces (web, MS Excel, vendor) to evaluate and track utilization of electronic resources such as E-journals, E-databases and E-books
     *   Direct the activities of student employees in the absence of librarians
A Bachelor's Degrees is required, as well as attaining a MLA Consumer Health Information Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire. Required job skills include excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to search databases for health information, knowledge of medical terminology and versatile, current computer skills. 1-2 years library experience preferred
