If you have a passion for science communication, especially related to natural resources management, here’s an opportunity to do #SciComm in Portland, Oregon, with the Pacific Northwest Research Station (PNW).

PNW is part of the USDA Forest Service’s Research and Development division (World’s largest forestry R&D!). The opportunity is via the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education:

The fellow selected for this project will help early career scientists translate their science and develop communication materials such as briefing papers, web content, presentations, and webinars. Research topics are diverse and will include northwest forest planning, climate change, urban forestry, wildlife, fisheries, watershed, recreation, and fire research.  The fellow will report to the Assistant Director for Communications and Applications, and would be supported and mentored by a strong research and communications team.

A BS or MS in natural or social science with demonstrated experience in science communication.

Minimum requirements for Fellow include:
• Demonstrated strong written communication skills
• Ability to synthesize and translate complex scientific information for diverse audience
• Expertise in design and development of outreach materials (briefing papers, presentation or publishing software)

Preferred requirements or plus factors include: 
• Graphic design
• Social media
