In recognition of Sunshine Week, the Daily Beacon and the East Tennessee chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will host a panel about the Tennessee Open Records Act from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 14.

Panelists include John North, senior web producer, WBIR-TV; Megan Boehnke, K-12 reporter, the News Sentinel; Matthew Scoggins, general counsel, UT System; and Ellie Amador, public records designee, UT System.

The Society of Professional Journalists organizes “Sunshine Week” annually to focus on the role and necessity of open meetings and records law to a free press. The panel will discuss what’s involved in making and complying with public record requests. Sunshine Week is March 12-18, 2017.

Bring your lunch and your questions! I hope to see you there!
