Position Summary:
Virginia Tech’s University Libraries and Moss Arts Center seek creative and enthusiastic applicants for the position of Manager of the Active Learning Curation Program. This is a unique opportunity
to develop and implement a new program aimed at showcasing the learning activities and outputs within the New Classroom Building and at other locations on campus, and designing opportunities for students to encounter and engage with interdisciplinary themes
and topics. The Manager will also work closely with campus stakeholders to assess the utilization of classrooms and spaces, assist instructors with pedagogical experiments, and help promote active and experiential learning initiatives.
About the New Classroom Building
This three-story, 73,000 square foot building is a pedagogical incubator at Virginia Tech. With 15 classrooms and four teaching laboratories, the New Classroom Building was designed with active learning in mind. Most of the rooms are filled with moveable furniture
and writable walls, and are designed in a way to encourage interaction and shared learning experiences.
About the Virginia Tech Art Collection
Though it does not proactively collect, Virginia Tech does maintain a small collection of donated artworks which supports teaching and research in the fine arts and other disciplines in which the visual arts are utilized to enhance knowledge; and contributes
to the public appreciation and enhancement through the display of visual arts properties in university facilities. Acquisitions and deaccessions to the collection are made through the Virginia Tech Foundation.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or other advanced degree in a field related to the position
- Professional experience or academic background related to journalism, marketing, public relations, public history, communication, design, library science, or similar field
- Evidence of successful project management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with individuals and groups
- Experience with video production and/or graphic design
- Evidence of creativity, innovation, and scholarship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in libraries or museums
- Experience with visual arts exhibitions, public art installations, or similar arts-related background
- Experience with ethnographic methods, interviewing, or user experience design
- Experience in a supervisory capacity
- Experience planning and managing an annual budget
- Experience with teaching, especially active learning project-based pedagogies
- Familiarity with qualitative/quantitative assessment methodologies
