Eastern Tallgrass Prairie & Big Rivers LCC

Congratulations to Kelley Myers, the new Coordinator for the Eastern Tallgrass Prairie Big Rivers (ETPBR) LCC with the USFWS. Kelley comes to the Service from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, where she served as Conservation Recreation Division Administrator. In this role, she oversaw fish and wildlife, state parks, forestry, land and water trail, real property acquisition, facility improvement and conservation law enforcement programs for the state of Iowa.

Ducks Unlimited

Jerry Holden Jr. has been selected to the leadership position of Director of Operations for Ducks Unlimited's Southern Region, effective February 1, 2017. Jerry has been a strong performer and leader with Ducks Unlimited since his arrival to the Southern Region in 1999. Before coming to Ducks Unlimited, he was an accomplished manager for Wal-Mart where his business acumen was enhanced. His commitment and passion for conservation and Ducks Unlimited’s mission is evident to anyone who spends any amount of time with Jerry.

Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries

Louisiana has 3 current job openings for the LA Natural Heritage Program manager, botanist, and Rockefeller Refuge Biologist Supervisor, whcih have been extended to close on 1/23/17. Please pass along to anyone who may be interested.

Botanist

LDWF is seeking a botanist to conduct field inventories for rare plants and natural communities, to assist with the effective operation of the Louisiana Natural Areas Registry, and to contribute to habitat stewardship implementation projects statewide. Applicants should be strongly field-oriented. In addition to skills in field botany, this position requires excellent oral and written communication skills. The successful applicant will routinely interact with the United States Forest Service, private landowners and managers and must be able to communicate botanical and ecological information effectively to people of all knowledge levels.

Research Coordinator

LDWF is seeking a research coordinator for Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge (RWR). This position will supervise research staff at RWR as well as Whooping Crane Reintroduction Project staff, based out of White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area. The coordinator will work with staff to conduct research and management projects on RWR and at other sites across Southwest Louisiana. Priorities for research include, but are not limited to, Whooping Cranes, wetland ecosystems, and Species of Greatest Conservation Need, as identified in the Louisiana Wildlife Action Plan. Applicants should have a background in research, grant proposal writing, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Housing at Rockefeller Refuge will be provided.

Program Manager

LDWF is seeking a program manager for the Louisiana Natural Heritage Program. This position manages the Louisiana Natural Heritage Program which is responsible for the conservation of Louisiana's rare, threatened and endangered (RTE) species, nongame birds, and habitats. LNHP is composed of four main sections: Data, Botany/Ecology, Zoological and State Wildlife Grants/Wildlife Action Plan. Applicants should have a background in research, grant proposal writing, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
