The Position:
This is a promotional recruitment, limited to Civil Service employees of the Nashville Public Library. This position is located in Administrative Services and reports to the Library Director. The Statistical Research Analyst will serve as the lead for a variety of research and data evaluation efforts system-wide. Position will play a vital role in collecting, organizing, validating and analyzing data. Responsible for developing, documenting, disseminating, and maintaining statistical reports to help create a data-driven culture. Performs other duties assigned by Library Director and related duties as required.
Typical Duties:
Creates statistical models that allow the Library to make valid assumptions regarding future customer behavior.
Serves as the lead for a variety of research, data evaluation and statistical reporting.
Coordinates and conducts studies of library services and operational effectiveness.
Develops performance metrics for current processes, new projects and initiatives.
Creates reports and dashboards for staff and management to monitor progress in achieving goals and objectives.
Queries and disseminates Library statistics for use by management and stakeholders to support strategic goals.
Collects and analyzes statistical, survey, demographic, and other data from various organizations and sources to create specific demographic profiles and forecasts, and to ensure appropriate Library response to community needs.
Manages outcome-based evaluations of library programs.
Provides training and presentations about data and evaluation to a variety of audiences.
Supports and coordinates the library’s strategic planning process.
Provides administrative support to the director when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in a quantitative field such as finance, mathematics, statistics, accounting, business or a closely related field and (3) three years of experience conducting data analysis, data collection, statistical analysis and reporting. OR Master’s degree in a related field and (1) year of experience conducting data analysis, data collection, and statistical analysis and reporting.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Knowledge/Abilities/Experience:
Strong planning and project management skills.
Experience in conducting outcome-based evaluation.
