Greetings Everyone! Employers: Revised Form I-9 is Now Live! USCIS published a revised version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Employers may continue using Form I-9 with a revision date of 03/08/2013 N. through Jan. 21, 2017. By Jan. 22, 2017, employers must use the revised form. These are some of the changes in the new version: • Employees only need to provide other last names used in Section 1, rather than all names used. • The certification in Section 1 for certain foreign nationals takes less time to complete. • There are additional spaces to enter multiple preparers and translators. • There is a dedicated area to enter additional information that employers have been required to notate in the margins of the form. *The most notable changes are the delineated lines to draw attention to the entry fields. The Form I-9 (2 pgs.), List of Acceptable Documents (1 pg.) and instructions to guide both the employee and employer (15 pgs.), 18 pages total. ALL of these pages are to be presented to the employee during completion of the Form I-9. You may laminate the List of Acceptable Documents and Instructions or you may keep a notebook with them available for view each time an employee completes the Form I-9 instead of printing 18 pages every time. They have also expanded the instructions for completing each section of the Form I-9 and included a list of commonly used abbreviations for documents. I strongly encourage you read through these and familiarize yourself with the new Form and Instructions. USCIS offers a widget to add to your desktop: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9 Cathy
