AGS Fellows Scott Fairgrieve and RJ Jacques
Working with AGS to promote geographical awareness

RJ Jacques, Director of Digital Marketing at Fulcrum Mobile Solutions

Scott Fairgrieve, Director of Human Experience at HumanGeo

The American Geographical Society<http://americangeo.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=023a4ebf81fd06583f67b9f62&id=796f971cd4&e=709443fc3d> (AGS) is proud to add two new AGS Fellows to its ranks. Scott Fairgrieve and RJ Jacques are leading experts in their respective fields of geospatial software development and social media strategy, and they have brought their considerable talents to the AGS in an effort to advance the cause of Geography.

Scott Fairgrieve is the Director of Human Experience at HumanGeo, which was recently acquired by Digital Globe. Scott is a phenomenal software developer implementing innovations in everything from Open Geospatial Consortium compliant SensorWebs to cutting edge user interface/user experience (UI/UX) work. In support of the AGS and its mission to advance Geography, Scott has worked closely with AGS President Dr. Marie Price and other AGS Councilors to re-imagine its publication FOCUS on Geography, developing something completely new, now available at www.focusongeography.org<http://americangeo.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=023a4ebf81fd06583f67b9f62&id=cc1cdef734&e=709443fc3d>.

“It is a pleasure to work with so many scholars committed to the advancement of geographic knowledge, understanding and thinking. It has been fun working with the AGS Council and staff to devise new and exciting ways to convey rich geographic insights in a way that is compelling to the AP Human Geography student and teacher community. I encourage all other geosnatially-savvy software developers within the AGS community to think about how they can contribute their time, energy and talents to advancing the cause of geography by helping build AGS online resources."

RJ Jacques is the Director of Digital Marketing at Fulcrum Mobile Solutions<http://americangeo.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=023a4ebf81fd06583f67b9f62&id=cd81748b7b&e=709443fc3d>, where he is responsible for developing approaches to online visibility, engagement, and attracting new customers for Fulcrum, so to bring cutting edge, mobile, geospatial solutions to people around the world. RJ has brought his expertise in digital marketing and social media to the AGS, and has been a driving force in the Society’s rapidly growing social media reach.

“It has been a great experience working with the AGS team to bring the Society’s message about geography to an ever wider audience. Remaking the AGS’ digital marketing strategy and its social media presence has been very satisfying, as we have seen its content reach new audiences that are hungry for geographic content. Social media is an easy way for everyone to help advance the cause of Geography, and I am excited to help all geography enthusiasts to become active in the life of the AGS through social media."

Said AGS Chairman Dr. Christopher Tucker, “AGS Fellows such as Scott Fairgrieve and RJ Jacques have become essential to the life of the AGS, as they bring their own new and innovative ideas to the AGS leadership, and pursue them with an energy and enthusiasm that simply cannot be purchased. It is a pleasure to have such stalwarts join the Society, to work in common cause for Geography.”

AGS President Marie Price similarly noted, "We know there is a passionate public who cares deeply about all things geographical. With the efforts of Mr. Fairgrieve and Mr. Jacques, we are able reach people in new and innovative ways. Since the founding of the society in 1851, our mission has been to explore, to educate and to inform. Today's AGS is all the stronger because of these two new Fellows.”
