NN/LM SE/A Network & Evaluation Coordinator

Description: The National Network of Libraries of Medicine Southeastern/Atlantic Region’s (SE/A) Medical Library, housed within the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL), seeks a librarian to serve as Network and Evaluation Coordinator.  The Coordinator oversees the development on the professional health information topic areas and leads the SE/A in conducting assessment and evaluation of the regional medical library program. The Coordinator develops outreach projects (including educational objects, award types, and consulting) to improve information access for health professionals and their proxies in the region. S/he manages the SE/A exhibits program. S/he coordinates an overall outreach plan that takes into consideration the health care and health information needs of providers and information professionals. S/he coordinates evaluation of SE/A programs, including needs analysis, subaward evaluation, and program improvement.

This is a full-time, grant-funded faculty position reporting to the Executive Director of the Regional Medical Library.  The incumbent will be appointed at a rank of Librarian I or higher in accordance with the University’s policy on the appointment of faculty librarians (USM/UM Policy II 1.00(F)).  Qualified individuals new to the library profession are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the membership program for the region including recruitment of SE/A members to ensure basic level of information access and service in the region and the development of accurate and up-to-date institutional records for all SE/A members
• Serve as regional needs assessment and evaluation liaison for outreach initiatives
• Coordinate the SE/A exhibits program including SE/A and funded exhibits
• Develop educational materials for inclusion on the NN/LM and SE/A web sites particularly in the areas of effective evaluation techniques and access to quality health information for health professionals
• Accept accountability for NLM deliverables, including workshops, exhibiting, presentations, newsletter contributions, web and social media content
• Lead projects, task forces, and workgroups as needed to accomplish projects
• Contribute articles on evaluation and information for health professionals to the regional electronic newsletter
• Coordinate the development and implementation of regional programs including identification of historical and unique collections, print retention, emergency preparedness and preservation to ensure information access for health professionals and the public
• Collaborate with the NN/LM DOCLINE office to ensure compliance with national document delivery policies and ensure adherence by Network members.
• Serve on NN/LM DOCLINE Working Group, an NNLM DOCLINE Office (NDCO) advisory group
• Promote and solicit resource sharing incentive awards; monitors progress and follow-up for awards in progress
• Plan and coordinate library network enhancement and cooperative library programs
• Provide support and training to Network members using the NLM Outreach Applications and Online Contract Reports Portal–Plans and coordinates library network enhancement and cooperative library programs
• Attend NLM teleconferences and provide regular feedback to NLM on problems or concerns of SE/A members
• Participate in the development, evaluation and testing of NN/LM and NLM products and services
• Promote communication throughout the region by providing feedback and evaluation on products/services and products

Required Qualifications:

• MLS from ALA-accredited institution or equivalent advanced degree
• Project management, strategic planning, and team leadership skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong service orientation and ability to work effectively with colleagues, health professionals and consumers in a diverse, multi-cultural community
• Demonstrated knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods
• Knowledge of PubMed and other NLM resources
• Experience with health information education and the ability to develop, plan, and conduct workshops and training, interacting confidently with audiences
• Willingness to travel; valid driver’s license at the time of employment
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Evidence of professional and scholarly activities
• Experience with Moodle and WebEx
• Familiarity with the MLA CE program and processes for obtaining MLA CE approval
• Ability to communicate vision and motivate others; willingness to assume leadership roles as needed
• Demonstrated ability to obtain results from initiating and participating in team efforts
• Effectiveness in promoting ideas while exhibiting tact and sensitivity; initiating interaction with others; and soliciting feedback from partners
• Comfort with change, flexibility and the ability to react quickly to program alterations and task modifications

Salary and Benefits:

Salary is based on qualifications and experience.  Benefits include choice of retirement, medical, and dental plans; 22 days of annual leave; 15 days of sick leave; 3 personal days and 14 holidays. Regular employees, their spouses and dependent children may receive tuition remission for most programs at many campuses of the University System of Maryland.
