Subject: Tennessee Geography Bowl Team for SEDAAG

Hello,

My name is Andrew Joyner and I'm an assistant professor in the Department of Geosciences at East Tennessee State University.  This year I am leading the Tennessee Geography Bowl team, which will compete at the Southeast Division of the Association of American Geographers conference in Columbia, SC the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Find out more about the conference here: http://sedaag.org/annual-meeting/

SEDAAG represents a great opportunity for students in the region to explore a multitude of topics in geography/geosciences and the Geography Bowl is especially fun.  The bowl runs from about 12:30 – 4:00PM on Sunday November 20th.  Registration will begin at 11am until 11:45am with orientation at 12pm.  Assuming that we end up with 10 teams (1 from each state), we will be running 5 simultaneous rounds in 5 rooms.  On Monday night there will be an All-Star vs. Dream Team competition followed by the Finals.  Each team needs 6 players (with room for many alternates beyond that number).  Last year, our Tennessee team included players from UT-Knoxville and ETSU.  We would love to have students from even more locations on the team - both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome!

Please advertise at your school or pass this along to other faculty members or students who may be interested in participating.  Judges, scorekeepers, and moderators are also needed.

Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to give students my contact information ([log in to unmask]) if they are interested.

Thanks!

Andrew
