Purpose
This position provides expertise and leadership of geospatial data services for campus. The person in this position partners with researchers in spatial
analysis and mapping while building campus support through expert consultation and instruction for students, faculty, and staff. This person also provides leadership in the development, implementation, and operationalization of the Libraries' initiatives.
Essential Functions
1. Engage in technical role by serving as a consultant and research partner on spatial analysis, mapping, and GIS-related campus research and by evaluating
and recommending appropriate datasets, software, and hardware for continued support of GIS courses and research. 2. Engage in public service role by creating and implementing instructional and promotional programs and activities around using geographic data
and by providing professional development opportunities for subject liaisons around using spatial data and related tools. 3. Engage in leadership role by developing an integrated set of data services supporting research and education at UTA in collaboration
with the Scholarly Communications Division leadership team and by serving as a project manager for related library initiatives, including establishing routines, priorities, and workflows as well as verifying work and coordinating other staff as assigned. 4.
Engage with academic departments on behalf of UTA Libraries, primarily as liaison to the College of Science. 5. Engage in professional community and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program or a related graduate degree. • Demonstrated organizational, analytical,
decision-making, problem-solving and planning skills • Computer literate and technologically adept. • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. • Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.
Preferred Qualifications
• An understanding of the research process as demonstrated by academic or work experience. • Project management experience involving designing, leading,
and completing a project within scope. • High degree of computer literacy and experience with geospatial and GIS software, tools, and database systems and management. • Experience with geospatial and numeric data sources and the ability to work with and transfer
between many file formats. • Desire and enthusiasm to work in a rapidly changing environment. • Knowledge of national and international trends in geospatial data analysis and visualization, including its application in a variety of fields and for a variety
of purposes. • Teaching experience in an academic environment. • Understanding of geospatial metadata and data curation standards and practices.
