Description

Kenyon College seeks an innovative, collaborative, and
service-oriented professional to join the Collection Services
department of Library & Information Services in a newly defined role
as the Discovery Services Librarian. Reporting to the Director of
Collection Services, the Discovery Services Librarian is responsible
for administration and maintenance of web-scale discovery products at
Kenyon and will seek to integrate, improve, and extend the library’s
various search tools, including the library catalog (Innovative’s
Sierra), discovery layer (Summon), and e-resources portals (ProQuest’s
ERMS and 360 Link Resolver) to promote seamless access to information
resources. This position is also responsible for culling, organizing,
and maintaining usage data of e-resources and making it accessible to
staff members for internal reporting and analysis purposes. This
position also participates in research and reference services to gain
further insight into users’ practical experience with library
discovery tools.

								Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

    - MLS/MLIS from an American Library Association accredited program.
   - Minimum of two years of experience in an academic library setting.
   - Knowledge of current and emerging models and tools used by
libraries for resource discovery.
   - Knowledge of cataloging, including MARC, AACR2, and RDA.
   - Experience providing reference and/or instruction services.
   - Demonstrated ability to learn new technology independently and to
adapt quickly to changing technologies.
   - Demonstrated enthusiasm for and current awareness of trends in
library information technology.
   - Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with
audience of diverse technical backgrounds.
   - Effective planning, organizational, and project management skills.
   - Ability to work independently and collegially with others.
   - Strong commitment to a collaborative and respectful work environment.
