Job Posting: Director of Collections - University of Kentucky Libraries
TheUniversityof Kentucky Libraries seeks acreative, collaborative,andentrepreneurial libraryprofessional with an abilityto provide innovativeservices through the positionof Director ofCollections.The successful candidatewill lead and collaboratewith a team of academicliaisons to support the current and emergingresearch strategies and methods of scholarlyproduction.
TheDirector is responsible for providingleadership forthe Libraries’ collections management and contentdevelopment, foradvancing research data management initiatives, and promotingUK Libraries’ commitment to the creation and dissemination of scholarship. The Director hires, trains, and supervises the work of 2FTElibrarians, 1 FTE support staff, and several studentsin the Collectionsand Federal DepositoryUnits. The Director will managethe ongoing collectionactivities of academicliaisons to ensure coordination and continuityfor collections in all disciplines and formats, will lead efforts to address and toprovide collection assessment and analysisguidance,andwill communicate collection issues and procedureseffectivelyto libraryusers and staff.
As an academicliaison,theDirector will teachand assess curriculum-integrated instructional sessions and conduct in-depth research consultations in assigned subject areas. TheDirector willdevelop and maintain online researchand courseguides and haveknowledgeof current research tools and technology. TheDirectorconducts collection reviewand analysis, providesresearchand scholarlypublishing support, and is activelyengaged with facultyand students in all assigned subject areas.
TheDirector will provide academicliaisons with research and scholarlypublishing support and participatein theleadership ofresearch data management initiatives. Responsibilities will includeworkingcollaborativelywith colleagues throughout UK Libraries and the campusto advanceUKnowledge, the university’s institutional repository, and the development, implementation, and assessment ofresearch support services. TheDirector will participatein outreachand campus engagementactivities that build partnerships and cultivaterelationships with keyuniversityunits.
