Dear friends and colleagues,

Compass is growing and we are looking for talented people to come work with us. Please help us distribute this job posting to colleagues or graduate students you feel may be a good fit here. Ideally, we would like to hire one or possibly two associates who have been working in resource management for a few years and have picked up a graduate degree along the way. There is no fixed list of pre-requisites, but generally we've found that people who are a good fit here will be able to put a check beside many of the following:

· Enthusiasm for improving the quality of resource and environmental decision making;

· A passion to work on both the human side as well as the analytical side of the decision making process;

· Demonstrated critical thinking and problem structuring skills;

· An interdisciplinary approach and ability to see the big picture;

· Established leadership, facilitation and project management skills (or potential);

· Excellent writing, communication and applied research skills;

· A knowledge of and desire to apply decision science and risk analysis methods;

· Quantitative analysis skills (e.g., love of data - crunching, mining, visualization - pulling insights from numbers and communicating the gist to broad minded groups of people);

· Code-writing skills; (e.g. Excel VBA, R, web stuff, etc.);

· Interest in working with a mixed portfolio of projects - water, waste, energy, climate, fisheries, species recovery, and more;

· A positive attitude which complements our team environment

For our immediate opportunities, a background or experience in aquatic ecology and/or fisheries management would be an asset, however it is not a requirement.

If you or someone you are connected to is interested in coming to work with us, please have them submit a cover letter, resume and relevant writing sample (or link to), to myself, Michael Harstone,[log in to unmask] by September 30, 2016. Compass will meet with short listed applicants early in the fall.

Thank you for your time. We look forward to connecting with the right candidate(s) in the coming weeks.
