Population Health Librarian

The NYU Health Sciences Library welcomes applications from collaborative, energetic, and creative candidates for the position of Population Health Librarian, a faculty appointment in the NYU School of Medicine.

Responsibilities

Liaison / Informationist Support

Providing dedicated information discovery and management support, including:

o Liaison to the Department of Population Health and other user groups as appropriate.

o Consulting on and supporting systematic reviews.
o Instructing new faculty and staff in skills such as effective literature

searching and reference management.
o Additional varied and complex research and data management

endeavors.

  • Providing expert-level information discovery and management support

    through the Library’s online user support systems.

  • Developing and curating subject- and discipline-specific research guides and

    other instructional technologies as appropriate.

    General

  • Serving on Library teams, committees and/or task forces as appropriate.

  • Serving on Medical Center or University Library committees and/or task

    forces as appropriate.

  • Conducting and presenting appropriate library- and informatics-related

    research.

    Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in library/information science or related fields.

  • 3+ years experience as a health sciences librarian.

  • Experience supporting researchers working on systematic reviews.

As liaison to the Department of Population Health, the successful candidate will support the NYU Langone Medical Center’s critical research in improving health through reducing inequities and disparities primarily caused by the social determinants of health. Beyond research, the Medical Center educates future leaders in healthcare delivery, health policy, and public health.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and instruction skills.

  • Enthusiasm for working closely with varied users in a dynamic academic

    medical center environment.

  • Adept at working in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Flexible, intellectually curious, and able to take risks.

  • Commitment to professional development and contributing to

    library/information science.

    Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate science or health science degree.

  • Graduate degree in Public Health or similar health research field.
