Manages an intricate program of museum activities for the collections at five parks (Big Cypress National Preserve, Biscayne National Park, De Soto National Memorial, Dry Tortugas National Park, and Everglades National Park), collectively referred to as the South Florida Collections Management Center, that involves sensitive and complex collections issues that may affect a wide variety of parks issues.  The employee is duty stationed at Everglades National Park where the collections are located but is required to travel to the five parks that have museum collections and exhibits to complete inventories, conserve items and complete reports. The incumbent accepts collection items and conserves or contracts the items for conservation.  The incumbent assists other park divisions in the preparation of permanent or temporary exhibits.

Serves as lead museum curator for the South Florida Collections Management Center
Manages the collections management facility and supervises staff assigned to the facility;
Ensures museum collection management practices are sustainable and include appropriate preventative conservation strategies;
Conducts independent research on aspects of the collection;
Integrates the use of museum objects, specimens, archives, and information to ensure the museum collections educate and inspire through use of exhibits, publications, websites and social media.
Most of the work is performed in an office and storage or laboratory facility.  Although primarily sedentary, inspections and operation evaluations involve activities demanding a certain amount of exertion such as walking, climbing, crawling, lifting of heavy objects, bending, stooping and reaching.
