Freight Transportation Stakeholders:

On Friday, April 22, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) in the Federal Register to propose national performance management measure regulations to assess the performance of the National Highway System, Freight Movement on the Interstate System, and the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program, as required by the MAP-21 and the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (“FAST Act”).

Reducing highway congestion could produce important benefits for the freight industry and contribute to our Nation’s growing economy.  Solutions must address the long- and short-term freight needs and depend on participation from both the public and private sectors to fully understand performance and develop strategic solutions.

On Monday, April 25, 2016, FHWA held a webinar focusing on the requirements for State DOTs and MPOs to collect and report data for the proposed Freight measures.

On Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 1 PM to 3 PM ET, there will be a webinar targeting the freight industry on the aspects of this NPRM. This webinar will focus on providing the freight industry with information about the proposed Freight measures:
