Dear Geographers,
I'm very pleased to announce that undergraduate Geography major
Caitlyn Quinton has received an undergraduate student award from AASP-The Palynological Society for her excellent performance in courses related to the study of pollen grains as paleoenvironmental indicators. In Fall 2015, Caitlyn earned the top grade
in Geography 530: Pollen Grains and other Microfossils in Quaternary Research, and she is now working on an honors thesis (Geography 497-498) on pollen evidence of vegetation history preserved in the sediments of a small wetland in North Carolina. Caitlyn's
honors research is directed by Sally Horn and her project also involves PhD student Mathew Boehm.
Way to go, Caitlyn!
Sincerely,
Sally Horn
