New course offering this fall 2016 for veterans Taught by Ingrid Ruffin

 

A nine year veteran of the United States Air Force, Ingrid holds a Bachelors of Arts in English, Masters of Arts in English and a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. As a librarian at UT Ingrid is dedicated to ensuring student success.

Seminar Description

 

This seminar is a 16 week, one credit course designed to assist student veterans in their transition to the University community and civilian life. Students will learn gain an understanding of UT resources, college survival strategies, as well as how to leverage their military experience into academic and professional success.

What are your learning objectives?

 

Students will learn about UT resources that will support their transition to the university setting. Student will gain an overview on transition strategies that support their success.

How will you assess student learning in your seminar?

 

Students write two reflection papers one at the beginning of the semester reflecting on their expectations and needs for their first semester at UT and the second paper will be due at the end of the semester will reflect on what they have and haven't learned during their time in the class.
