Albert R. Mann Library, Cornell University's library supporting agriculture, life sciences and human ecology, is seeking an innovative, forward-thinking entry-level librarian to join our collection development team.  Under the general direction of the Head of Collection Development and Digital Collections, the Collection Development and Digital Collections Librarian coordinates Mann Library's book selection process (both print and electronic).  Key to the position will be monitoring emerging trends in e-book delivery and developing strategies for adapting the Library's book purchasing to new models. The librarian also works closely with others on the collection development team to build the overall Mann Library collection according to our collection policies.

Provides leadership for building institutional repository collections of born-digital publications and faculty papers of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and assists with College of Human Ecology (CHE) papers and publications. Supervises 1 FTE who supports this effort.

Serves as coordinator for liaison services to the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station community in Geneva, NY, working in collaboration with Mann liaison(s) supporting Geneva-based departments.  Serves as liaison to two departments on the Ithaca and Geneva campuses.  Provides specialized research support and subject expertise in agriculture.

Plays an active role in professional organizations and the Cornell library community. Actively participates in the library's research and development efforts, particularly efforts relating to life sciences collection development.

Qualifications

·         Master's degree in library or information sciences from an accredited university.

·         Effective communication skills and an ability to work in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:

·         Collection development experience in a research library.

·         Subject background in agriculture and life sciences strongly preferred.

·         Experience with institutional repositories.
