The New York Academy of Medicine Library seeks qualified candidates for the permanent, full-time position of Head of Preservation and Conservation. Reporting to the Associate Director of the Library, the Head of Preservation and Conservation will provide leadership and direction for all preservation and conservation initiatives in the Library; oversee the work of staff in the Gladys Brooks Book and Paper Conservation Laboratory; and serve on the senior management team of the Library.
The Library of The New York Academy of Medicine dates from the Academy’s founding. It opened its collections to the general public in 1878, and remains the only specialized research library in New York City offering access to medical and health information to members of the public. The Library’s collections include over 500,000 volumes—including approximately 32,000 rare books, 275,000 portraits and illustrations, and around 400,000 pamphlets. The collection comprises primary and secondary materials in the history of medicine, public health, science, and other health-related disciplines, as well as an extensive reference collection. The Library supports a number of activities, including two residential research fellowships, an active Friends program, and professional development workshops and meetings.
The Gladys Brooks Book and Paper Conservation Laboratory was established in 1982 to care for the collections of the Academy Library. In addition to its preservation and conservation mandate, the Lab plays an important role in training future generations of conservators through its internship and volunteer programs, and offers educational opportunities through professional workshops and lectures.

Experience and/or Education:
· An MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library program with a focus on preservation and conservation; or a graduate degree in conservation with a specialization in books or paper; or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Librarian
The University of the Pacific seeks a librarian with energy, initiative, and vision to provide effective leadership and direction in the provision of library resources and services in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The librarian’s role in the academy is changing, and that change is particularly apparent in the sciences. The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Librarian takes a leadership role in the development of relationships between the University Library and faculty in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Data Analytics, Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The STEM Librarian develops productive partnerships with library colleagues and faculty for the development of innovative programs, collections, and services in support of instruction and research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and deliver a range of innovative library services that facilitate the curricular and research needs of students and faculty in the STEM subjects, including engineering, computer
science, data analytics, mathematics, natural sciences, and physical sciences;
• Provide reference assistance, instruction, and outreach services;
• Cultivate relationships with teaching faculty in relevant subject areas;
• Employ new technologies in pursuit of teaching and learning;
• Assist in achieving and assessing the library’s information competency goals;
• Selects print and electronic resources in support of curriculum and research in relevant subject areas;
• Collaborate and actively participate in local, regional, or national organizations regarding related issues;
• Serve on/participates in University and Library committees, task forces, and teams as appropriate;
• Engage in scholarly/creative/professional activity as appropriate;
• Provide instruction to distance learners by travel to other campuses or via teleconferencing tools;
• Some evening and weekend work is required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science or equivalent;
• Academic degree in engineering, computer science, natural sciences, or physical sciences, or the demonstrated equivalent gained through experience in an academic science or engineering
library;
• Minimum of one year of experience delivering education, information, and research services in
an academic or research library, or during an internship;
• Passion for quality student-centered library service informed by collaborative faculty teaching partnerships;
• Commitment to providing high-quality public service within a flexible and continually evolving academic library environment;
• Ability to apply emerging technologies to library services;
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
• Demonstrated creative approaches to problem solving;
• Ability to work cooperatively and to foster teamwork;
• Proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
PREFERRED
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience delivering services in one or more of the following professional areas: instructional design, change management, electronic resources management, digital initiatives, and scholarly communication.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
• Salary from $50,000, negotiable depending upon experience;
• Faculty rank of Assistant Professor, non-tenure track, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
