George A. Smathers Libraries

Translational Research Librarian

Assistant or Associate University Librarian

 

The George A. Smathers Libraries seeks a creative and service-oriented liaison librarian at the Health Science Center Library. This tenure track library faculty position serves as a member of the Biomedical and Health Information Services (BHIS) team, and provides information services in a variety of modes (in person, email, “house calls”). The Translational Research Librarian provides direct support for clinical and translational research through expert searching, information resource training, systematic review assistance, and support for NIH Public Access compliance. This position serves as liaison librarian to the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), as well as to assigned departments and student cohorts in the College of Medicine, and participates in the BHIS department’s on-call service and teaching rotation. The position is responsible for special projects as assigned, such as collection reviews, development of web-based resources, and service evaluation. The Translational Research Librarian performs scholarly research and provides service at the institutional and professional levels as related to assignment and in accordance with tenure and promotion criteria.

 

The library encourages staff participation in reaching management decisions and consequently the Translational Research Librarian will serve on various committees and teams. To support all students and faculty and foster excellence in a diverse and global society, the Translational Research Librarian will be expected to include individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, races, ethnic​ities, genders, and perspectives in work activities.
