"Thematic Program on GEOMETRIC ANALYSIS"

Scheduled Program Events
Here is a list of the major program events. The listed dates are approximate. More precise information will be added as soon as it becomes available. Inquiries should be made to the program organizers.
• Summer school on Geometric Analysis. (July 2017)
• Workshop on "G2 manifolds and related topics". (Late August or early September 2017)
• Workshop on "General Relativity & AdS/CFT Correspondence". (October 2017)
• Workshop on "Mean curvature flow and Ricci flow". (November 2017)
The summer school is intended for graduate students, postdocs, and early career researchers to learn about various fundamental topics in geometric analysis. The summer school is expected to be two weeks in duration. The three workshops will each be one
week in duration. Immediately preceding each workshop there will be a short (2-day) "minischool" during which guest lecturers will give short courses for postdocs, students, and non-expert researchers who are interested in the workshop subtheme, providing
them with the background they would need to get the most out of the talks during the workshops.
Other aspects of the thematic program
Many other activities are planned for the program. More details about all of these aspects of the program will be announced soon. These other activities include:
• Graduate Courses: There will be at least two, and possibly three, full-length graduate courses at the Fields Institute during the 2017 Fall term. One course will be "Introduction to geometric flows" by Robert Haslhofer; another course will be "Nonlinear
elliptic equations on compact Riemannian manifolds" by Spiro Karigiannis. More details about these courses and a possible third course will be announced later.
• Colloquia and seminars: During the period of the thematic program, we will integrate the "Fields Institute Geometric Analysis Colloquium" with the activities of the program and have one speaker at least every two weeks during the September to December period.
Moreover, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows associated with the thematic program we will encouraged to organize weekly working/learning seminars on topics related to the themes of the program. Finally, energetic visitors to the Institute during the
program can also participate in the regular differential geometry seminars at the University of Toronto, McMaster, and Waterloo.
• Postdoctoral Fellowships: Several postdoctoral fellowships associated to the program will be offered. Some will be for two years in duration, with the 18 months that do not coincide with the program being spent at one of the principal sponsoring universities
of Fields. Other postdoctoral fellowships will be only for the duration of the thematic program. These 6 month positions are expected to be offered to researchers who will take a leave of absence from an existing postdoctoral position. Please see this link:

• Distinguished Lecture Series: We will have at least one distinguished lecture series in conjunction with the program.
• Long-term visitors: Funding is available to support several long-term visitors, usually for a 1-2 month period. Inquiries should be made to the organizers.
• Public Outreach: Several public outreach activities are being planned.
