Dear STC-ETC Colleagues and Friends,

The date for the Spallation Neutron Source tour is April 8. We currently
have a full complement for one tour guide. An accurate count will ensure we
get a second tour guide if needed. Please send me an email if you would like
to attend and I will provide information on security, meeting place, and
time.

Here is a blurb on this wonderful facility (how many people in the world can
claim seeing it!):

SNS is a one-of-a-kind research facility that provides the most intense
pulsed neutron beams in the world for scientific research and industrial
development. SNS produces neutrons with an accelerator-based system that
delivers short (microsecond) proton pulses to a target/moderator system,
where neutrons are produced by a process called spallation. State-of-the-art
experiment stations provide a variety of capabilities for researchers across
a broad range of disciplines, such as physics, chemistry, materials science,
and biology. (See https://neutrons.ornl.gov/sns for more information.)

Best wishes,

Mary
