Description:
Volpe Library at Tennessee Tech University invites applications for an
innovative, energetic and collaborative Coordinator of Technical Services
to lead, coordinate, and administer the Library’s Technical Services
Department, encompassing Acquisitions, Electronic Resources/Serials,
Government Documents, and Cataloging/Metadata Services. The Coordinator of
Technical Services will also be responsible for developing and leading a
new data curation effort. The position manages a staff of eight engaged in
procurement, organization, description, and maintenance of library
materials in all formats and online access to information for effective
discovery and delivery to library patrons. This person will lead our
ongoing efforts to enhance and streamline Technical Services processes and
services through development of practical solutions that may include
creative problem-solving, workflow analysis, assimilation of multiple
perspectives and continual exploration and adoption of new technological
skills and tools.

Min. Qualifications:
Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution, or
equivalent. Minimum five years of increasingly responsible, professional,
relevant work experience in an academic library. Prior supervisory
experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of current trends and new developments in technical services.
Knowledge of current trends and developments in data curation. Experience
in acquisitions of library materials, including management of the total
acquisitions budget. Experience with library vendors and content providers,
including subscription agents, publishers, and library consortia. Ability
to lead and manage multiple department operations in a dynamic and changing
environment. Strong service orientation, initiative and ability to work
independently and collaboratively. Working knowledge of, integrated library
systems (including implementation), electronic resources management
systems, OCLC Connexion and discovery systems. Experience in working with
metadata standards from the library and digital library communities (e.g.,
Dublin Core, EAD, METS, MODS).

The Georgia Tech Library seeks a collegial, innovative archivist to engage
in the arrangement, description, and access of manuscripts and records
within Special Collections and University Archives. The successful
candidate for this position will also be involved in instruction and
outreach programs, engagement activities and scholarship initiatives in the
Archives and Records Management Department. The candidate will actively
participate in library-wide initiatives through committees, taskforces and
projects that are inline with the Library's strategic mission. Applicants
should be eager to shape change, welcome a service model where he/she
actively engages students, faculty and researchers through direct
interaction. He/she should have an interest in the evolving roles of
research libraries and archives in the changing landscape of higher

Key Responsibilities:

   - Engage in the arrangement, description, and access of manuscripts and
   records within Special Collections and University Archives
   - Partner with faculty and researchers to determine areas of arrangement
   and description
   - Create finding aids and other descriptions and make them available to
   researchers, faculty and students
   - Assist in carrying-out the strategic goals of the department with a
   focus upon the department vision
   - Design innovative archival services in support of the Library Renewal
   initiative
   - Provide outreach to faculty, student and researchers including
   detailed research consultations and archival orientations and instruction
   - Assist in the research and creation of exhibitions for the department
   - Supervise student assistants and interns in the department

Required Qualifications:

   - ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science,
   master’s degree in archival administration, or equivalent advanced degree
   - Minimum of four years of archival experience with arrangement and
   description of archival materials
   - Requires working knowledge of Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and
   other related archival descriptive standards and knowledge of the
   preservation needs of archival collections
   - Experience providing reference assistance and instruction
   - Commitment to outreach and service

Preferred Qualifications:

   - Knowledge of Archivists’ Toolkit, ArchivesSpace or similar archival
   management software systems
   - Supervisory experience with student assistants and interns.

Faculty Status:

The position will be appointed as a member of the Instructional Faculty of
the Georgia Tech Library, is non-tenure track and is subject to the review
and promotion process for all Georgia Tech librarians and archivists. As a
member of the Georgia Tech Library Faculty, the incumbent will have an
effort distribution of 80% excellence in assigned duties, 10% scholarship,
and 10% professional service.

Salary and rank commensurate with credentials and experience. This is a
full-time faculty appointment.
