Dear undergraduate and graduate students, (copied to the faculty)

This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow, Thursday 2/25/2016, we will honor Dr. Mike Mayfield, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Appalachian State University, as the 2016 Distinguished Alumnus of the Geography Department. I’d like to bring to your attention a couple of important things as follows:

GRADUATE STUDENTS: please sign the congratulations card for Dr. Mayfield (t’s in the workroom). Please try to do it this afternoon, I then will scan those cards and use them in a slide show.

1:30 pm — 2:30 pm: open meeting with faculty, undergraduate and graduate students in BGB 406. Light refreshment will be served. If you are busy, please try to stop by just for a couple minutes to say hello and congratulations to Dr. Mayfield.

3:30 — 4:00 pm: reception in front of the Hodges library’s Auditorium (second floor)

4:00 pm — 4:50 pm: 2016 Geography Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony (Hodges library’s Auditorium — second floor). We need one grad volunteer (GARG?) to present the congratulation card to Dr. Mayfield at the ceremony. (Brook Pearson will represent undergrads to hand Dr. Mayfield their card which has been filled with signatures. GREAT! Thank you very much Brook).

Finally, as this is a very ceremonial event to honor our distinguished alumni (e.g., Dean Lee and many distinguished guests will attend the event), please observe the semi-formal dress code.
