Research & Instruction Librarian and Assistant Professor

The University of Mississippi Libraries seeks an energetic, innovative, flexible, and service-oriented team member as Research & Instruction Librarian and Assistant Professor at the J.D. Williams Library in Oxford, MS. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month faculty position reporting to the Head of Research & Instruction Services.

The successful candidate will:

*Contribute to the First-Year Instruction Initiative program through teaching information literacy skills, providing general reference services, creating web resources (LibGuides, Blogs) and designing tutorials. This librarian will be an important liaison to the Center for Student Success & First-Year Experience.

*Coordinate library outreach by developing, marketing, and assessing outreach efforts to first-year students and other special populations, such as graduate students, staff, faculty, and community members as well as serve as the libraries' social media manager and faculty advisor to the Library Ambassadors student organization.

*Serve as the liaison to the departments of Political Science and History. This librarian will actively engage with faculty and students to gain a strong understanding of research and curriculum needs in order to make effective instruction, outreach, and collection development decisions.

*Demonstrate professional achievement (including publishing in scholarly journals) for promotion and tenure at the university.

Required Qualifications - MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution of higher education or international equivalent, by date of hire. Understanding of current and emerging trends in research and instruction services. Understanding of electronic resources and political science and history resources. Self-starter with the ability to effectively collaborate with campus and community partners. Ability to work with and provide exceptional service to a diverse community on and off campus. Strong commitment to research and information literacy instruction and liaison duties. Effective interpersonal, oral, written, and online communication skills.

Compensation - Salary starting at $42,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications) coupled with the university's excellent benefits package.
