Librarian Assistant Professor / University of Miami / Position #P00014786

The Calder Library at the Miller School of Medicine is seeking a full time Librarian Assistant Professor to provide focused and professional research and reference service to medical school students, residents, faculty, and staff; Instruct medical students in the EBM section of the Doctoring course, including proposed assistance with PBL small groups; create instructional materials in multiple formats (videos, online tutorials, LibGuides/Resource Guides, Blackboard classes, etc.) for use by students residents, faculty, and staff; participate in the Personal Librarian Program (PLP) for medical students to customize library services and resources and provide a single point of contact for these services; lead library instruction efforts and plan in collaboration with medical school faculty; conduct seminars/classes for students, residents, faculty, and staff on the use of medical, nursing, and health sciences related services and resources; collaborate with faculty and library staff to plan, deliver, and assess library and instructional technology services; provide innovative evidence-based practice and information literacy instruction; provide assistance for compliance with the NIH Public Access mandate; solicit and assist with depositing publications of UM researchers/authors into the UM Scholarly Repository;  perform advanced subject specific professional library work and related tasks as required primarily in the graduate disciplines in the UM; perform literature reviews and systematic reviews; consult with graduate students and faculty on individual or group-related research projects; assess library needs of medical students and resident-clinician researchers, especially those in the Residents Scholarly Activities Program; train library patrons on use of electronic resources and citation management databases such as PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and others; serve as Library Liaison with designated departments on campus to increase awareness of library electronic resources and provide enhanced information management services; foster positive working relationships; promote Library services and resources in response to the training, curriculum, and research needs of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, faculty, staff, students, and affiliates.


The ideal candidate will possess both broad and in-depth knowledge of medical, health sciences, and statistical resources to support doctoral student and faculty research projects; possess demonstrated experience in the teaching and use of these resources, and some experience using web technologies for instruction.  

 

Required Qualifications:  ALA- accredited MLS; minimum 3 years of teaching experience in an academic health sciences library; demonstrated analytical and organizational skills; demonstrated knowledge of current and developing library trends and technology; ability to work productively with colleagues in a team-focused environment as well as independently; strong social, verbal, and written communication skills; project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (English/Spanish). Technology troubleshooting; working knowledge of Blackboard or other course management systems, MS Office, and presentation software.
