SUBJECT:                                    ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY (vacancy due to retirement)

POSITION:                                Library Operations Manager

SALARY GROUP:    27             PAY RANGE:            $54,704 - $68,380  (depending on qualifications)

PRIMARY JOB TASKS:

Under general direction of the Library Director, oversees the day-to-day operation of the Library, provides assistance to the Library Director, manages the automated Library system, reads reviews and makes selection of adult materials, prepares reports and supervises assigned Library staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Knowledge of professional Library principles, programs, practices and administration.

·       Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware, software and Library automated systems.

·       Skill in utilizing Library automated systems and training others to do so.

·       Knowledge of Library reference, cataloging methods and techniques.

·       Knowledge of research methodologies including Internet resources.

·       Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective employee supervision.

·       Knowledge of the principles and practices of organization, management and budgeting.

·       Knowledge of City policies and procedures.

·       Skill in effective oral and written communications.

·       Skill in effectively supervising and delegating duties to staff.

·       Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff members and the general public.

·       Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:

·       Must have Master’s Degree in Library Science or related field and seven (7) years Library operations experience with three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.

·       Residency within the city limits of Oak Ridge is preferred but not required for this position.

·       Must possess a State of Tennessee driver’s license.
