Inspire and build for the future as Marion Public Library’s next Library Director. The Board of Trustees of the Marion Public Library wants a leader to contribute to building and sustaining Marion as a creative city that attracts and nurtures talented people, mobilizes ideas, stimulates innovation, and encourages diversity. Working with the City of Marion, the Library is a center of cultural vitality enhancing the quality of life through library services for all Marion residents. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a new Strategic Plan and continue to move forward with the Library’s innovative mixed-use building project—Inspire-Building Marion’s Future—initiated during the 2008 City’s Imagine8 visioning project. The proposed new Library will go from 24,000 square feet to 48,000 square feet and allow for the development and implementation of additional library programs and services. The Marion Public Library staff (20FTE) circulated 808,000+ items in 2014 to its 34,000+ residents and borrowers in the Metro Library Network (Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, and Marion). The $1.7mil annual operating budget is funded primarily through a City appropriation with additional financial support from the Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation. The Marion Public Library is a community gathering place that offers everyone easy access to information, recreation, and cultural resources.
The City of Marion’s 36,774 population makes it the second largest city in the Cedar Rapids metro area and one of the fastest growing communities in Iowa. Responsibilities. The Director of the Marion Public Library reports to a nine-member Library Board of Trustees—appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council—and partners with city officials to achieve the Library’s mission, goals and objectives within the context of community needs and priorities. Qualifications. Minimum qualifications include master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program and a minimum of five years progressively responsible public library experience including at least three years in a supervisory and/or administrative position. Preferred qualifications include experience reporting to a governing board, working within a municipal environment, and working with library building/renovation projects.
Compensation. The hiring salary range is $86,000-$106,000 with a competitive benefits package.

The NLM Associate Fellowship Program offers a formal curriculum with exposure to library operations, research and development, intramural and extramural research, development and lifecycle of the NLM web-based

Responsibilities: The Director, Public Services will be responsible for the public service area’s strategic planning, alignment and access of library services to the residents of Marion County. General Description:
Reports to the Assistant Director of the Medical Library in the Department of Learning Resources. Primary responsibilities include clinically and research-oriented reference and outreach work on behalf of the Quillen College of Medicine

Supervisor: Director of Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
Summary: The Tennessee State Library and Archives collects and preserves books and records of historical, documentary and reference value, and encourages and promotes
library development throughout the state. In addition, TSLA also operates a free library program of braille, recorded and large print materials, available to residents of Tennessee who are not able to use standard print materials due to a visual or physical
disability. The Content Access Specialist will ensure that the library’s collections are cataloged and stored in a manner that supports ready access.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Execute a successful digital audio book duplication-on-demand program; partner with LBPH assistant director and director to develop policies and best practices for providing excellent service as that program
evolves.
• Execute the plan for a successful participation of LBPH in the statewide interlibrary loan service, for large print books; serve as chief operator for that program.
• Accurately perform read and write-protection procedures per National Library Service (NLS) guidelines, using provided software; serve as primary trainer on these procedures for other LBPH staff.
• Coordinate tasks with one or more volunteers in a manner that makes optimal use of everyone’s time and ensures proper procedural flow.
• Keep staff informed on current topics and trends in LPBH, particularly in relation to downloading books and using the NLS smartphone apps; provide training to staff and patrons as assigned.
• Assist with cataloging and inventorying new items, both those made via the duplication-on-demand program and materials entering the collections from other sources.
• Accurately and efficiently process new items, including the generation and application of labels, cover protection, and other such tasks.
• Perform item record cleanup through the catalog.
• Assist with development and maintenance of collection management policies and procedures.
• Assist with accurate, timely inventories of physical collections.
• Perform patron database management tasks, including individual record cleanup, monthly usage file import, and annual record purge.
• Accurately and efficiently perform de-selection tasks in accordance with National Library Service guidelines, including identifying and packaging items for shipment.
• Assist with LBPH collection development.
• Shelve materials, pull materials from shelves, shift materials on shelves, clean materials and shelves, and otherwise perform stacks maintenance tasks.
• Assist with unloading, sorting, checking in, and otherwise processing incoming materials returned via U.S. Mail, generally in large quantities.
• Perform quality control tasks for audio books in multiple formats.

• Must possess education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
