VOLFighters, the student veteran group on the UTK campus, is partnering with Knoxville's Casting for Recovery to promote Breast Cancer Awareness this month. They've got shirts for men, ladies fit, youth, long sleeve, and even hoodies! 80% of our profit will go to helping prevent breast cancer and supporting survivors. A photo of the shirt is attached and they are $20.00

Casting for Recovery strives to enhance the quality of life of women with breast cancer through a unique program that combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing. The retreats offer opportunities for women to find inspiration, discover renewed energy for life and experience healing connections with other women and nature. Casting for Recovery’s retreats are open to breast cancer survivors of all ages, in all stages of treatment and recovery, and are free to participants.

The concept of Casting for Recovery is unique. On a physical level, the gentle, rhythmic motion of fly casting is similar to exercises often prescribed after surgery or radiation to promote soft tissue stretching. On an emotional level, women are given the opportunity to experience a new activity in a safe environment amongst a supportive group of peers. The retreats provide resources to help address quality of life issues after a breast cancer diagnosis, and a new outlet .

"I can still remember the laughter and tears I shared with my fellow breast cancer survivors...but mostly the laughter. Learning how to fly fish was a wonderful experience; I've even continued to try my hand at it. I cannot say enough about the caring and compassionate staff.” — Arlene (Past Participant)

Please send me something to send on the listserv about the pink shirt and casting group. I want to send this to the listserv and resource team. If you can send me what you just posted on the volf page with the link, that would be fine.
