PhD Graduate Research / Teaching Assistantship

Virginia Tech – Horticulture

Plant Nutrition / Crop Production / Environmental Science 

A team of horticultural scientists and an environmental engineer are looking for a motivated, intelligent, critical minded Ph.D. student to conduct and publish research focused on nitrogen fate in containerized specialty crop production. The successful candidate will be located in the Department of Horticulture in Blacksburg Virginia USA.  Summers will be spent in Virginia Beach at the Hampton Roads Ag. Res. Ext. Ctr. (AREC), USDA-ARS in Wooster Ohio and/or collecting data throughout the physiographic regions of Virginia.  The student will gain valuable teaching experience by serving as a graduate teaching assistant for 6 semesters.  A Masters of Science and experience with container-grown plants, woody ornamentals, soilless substrates or analytical laboratory experience is preferred.  The research team of faculty consists of the following co-PIs:
