Knox County TN1299 INTERN - STORMWATERKnox County | Knoxville, TN *Schedule:* 18-20 hours per week during office hours, (Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) *PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION:* The purpose of this classification is to perform administrative tasks in support of the Knox County Stormwater Management Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: GIS data management, scanning, support of field staff in GIS data acquisition projects, and performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* *The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. *Performs basic data management tasks such as scanning, filing, importing, projecting and georeferencing digital image files. Performs basic editing and attribute updates on GIS datasets using ESRI ArcMap and ArcCatalog. Conducts QA/QC analysis on GIS datasets under guidance from a supervisor. Assists with the day to day administration of a field GPS data collection project and supports field staff by checking data in and out, creating GPS work areas, basic troubleshooting of equipment and making and printing field maps. Produces and interacts with ArcGIS online products, such as story maps, web maps and other mapping applications. *ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* Performs other related duties as required. *MINIMUM TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:* In process of completing a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science or related field. Proficient in ArcGIS, preferably with experience in GPS procedures and a familiarity with ArcGIS Online products and capabilities. Interns will represent County government to the public and must maintain a professional standard of communication at all times. Must 18 years or older and able to obtain a TN driver’s license. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* Must be physically able to operate a variety of office machines, such as a computer, printer, telephone, copier, scanner, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to lift 30lb objects from the ground to heights above the waste unassisted. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work.
