Seatbelt Convincer[log in to unmask]" class="">

Dozens of Students Take Part in Safe Driving Demonstration
The UT Police Department held a "Blue Light Special" with the help of the Center for Transportation Research on Friday, September 25, to emphasize the importance of buckling up and to demonstrate what happens during certain accidents. More than fifty students turned up outside Neyland Stadium to take part in the event, which the UTPD held as part of of National Campus Safety Awareness Month. Participants got to try out several simulators that underscore the need for safe driving practices, including the Center for Transportation Research "Seatbelt Convincer," a device that allows participants to buckle up to a seat on a test sled that then crashes into a bumper, simulating the force of a low-speed accident.
